Interesting Paradox

Religion is right, because it is science ... and science is wrong, because it is religion.

"Myth is born from science." -- Charles F. Dupuis, polymath, 1795

"Mythology has it's origin in the opera of science." -- Charles F. Dupuis, polymath, 1795

"Diogenes, the Babylonian, traces the whole mythology back to Nature or to physiology." -- Charles F. Dupuis, polymath, The Origin of All Religious Worship, 1795

"... what is myth to-day is often history to-morrow." -- Lewis Spence, translator, The Popol Vuh: The Mythic and Heroic Sagas of the Kiches of Central America, July 1908

"Myths have no point to make. They are, in fact, history." -- Jno Cook, author, Recovering the Lost World: A Saturnian Cosmology, November 2009

"Religion has prevailed! Science has become religion!" -- Halton C. Arp, astronomer, What Has Science Come To?, 2000

"Science ... has adopted the methods of religion." -- Halton C. Arp, astronomer, What Has Science Come To?, 2000

"For me science that violates common sense, uses exotic names and terms, and 'ad-hoc' interpretations so that an average person cannot understand its fundamental premises is not science; it is theology." -- Stavros T. Tassos, seismologist, October 2008

It scares me that you're probably serious."

  2. Religion is hidebound and unchanging. Science, on the other hand, updates and corrects itself on a near constant basis.

Scientific facts of a hundred years ago are discarded nonsense today. You know this to be true.

You need to quit denegrating the work of folks who work so hard to make your life better.

The truth of the matter is that mainstream science disagrees with you and the legion of crackpots you worship... you simply can't abide that.

  3. OIM,

You stated with morbid ignorance: Religion is right, because it is science ... and science is wrong, because it is religion.

    How does this change that?

Science is right because it is religion ... and religion is wrong because it is science.

It is much better to read and do the teachings of Kamasutra than jerk off like you do.

By the way who is represented in your icon?

  4. Jeffery,

    "Religion is hidebound and unchanging."

Not true. For example, the views of the Catholic Church have changed throughout the ages.

"Science, on the other hand, updates and corrects itself on a near constant basis."

Truth doesn't need to correct itself. Only when science becomes religion does it need to correct itself but by then it's too late.

"Scientific facts of a hundred years ago are discarded nonsense today. You know this to be true."

    For example: biological evolution.

"The truth of the matter is that mainstream science disagrees with you and the legion of crackpots you worship... you simply can't abide that."

If mainstream science agreed with me I'd be worried.

  5. Not true. For example, the views of the Catholic Church have changed throughout the ages.

In response to the progress of science. If it were up to the Church, we'd still be praying 8 times a day and I'd have been burned as a heretic about 30 years ago.

  6. Truth doesn't need to correct itself

That assumes one is starting with the truth. We didn't.

  7. OIM, is that what Einstien said, or is that what you want Einstien to say?
