"When first observed by Voyager, the spoke movements [of Saturn's Rings] seemed to defy gravity and had the scientists very perplexed. Since the spokes rotate at the same rate as Saturn's magnetic field, it is apparent that the electromagnetic forces are also at work." -- Ron Baalke, astrophysicist, 1998
If gravitation were real, Saturn's rings would not be in a flat plane perpendicular to the lines of force of Saturn's magnetic field.
Astronomy.com: Cassini probe sees electric link between Saturn and Enceladus.

Saturn-north-pole
NASA is releasing the first images and sounds of an electrical connection between Saturn and one of its moons. The data collected by the Cassini spacecraft enable scientists to improve their understanding of the complex web of interaction between the planet and its numerous moons.
Scientists previously theorized an electrical circuit should exist at Saturn. After analyzing data that Cassini collected in 2008, scientists saw a glowing patch of ultraviolet light emissions near Saturn's north pole that marked the presence of a circuit, even though the moon Enceladus is 150,000 miles (240,000 kilometers) away from the planet.
The patch occurs at the end of a magnetic field line connecting Saturn and Enceladus. The area, known as an auroral footprint, is the spot where energetic electrons dive into the planet's atmosphere, following magnetic field lines that arc between the planet's north and south polar regions.
"The footprint discovery at Saturn is one of the most important fields and particle revelations from Cassini and ultimately may help us understand Saturn's strange magnetic field," said Marcia Burton from NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California. "It gives us the first visual connection between Saturn and one of its moons."
This is nothing new and has not one thing to do with gravity.
ReplyDeleteA similar connection was noted at Jupiter concerning a circuit with Io and its plasma torus.
I have previously commented on how magnetic fields influence the formation and behavior of rings, and how they may be responsible for constraining matter during the collapse of the solar nebula during a system's formation.
The observation of the spokes in the Saturn's rings was chalked up to EM on day one of that discovery back in the 80s. However, they appear to be a seasonal effect, so there's more at play than just EM.
Your headline is at best wishful and at worse a spurious distortion. But the Electric Universe crowd is fond of looking at something and just randomly chalking it up to EM, when clearly something else is going on.
"the Saturn" ???
ReplyDeleteI should proofread better.
Jeffery,
ReplyDelete"This is nothing new"
I agree. New things are impossible.
However it doesn't stop the Darwinists at NASA from saying it's new, "NASA is releasing the first images and sounds of an electrical connection between Saturn and one of its moons."
"The observation of the spokes in the Saturn's rings was chalked up to EM on day one of that discovery back in the 80s."
Saturn's rings were not discovered in the 1980s. EM was posited by Velikovsky in 1950.
Saturn's rings were not discovered in the 1980s
ReplyDeleteNo shit. I was referring to the spokes.
I really hate it when the small minded dismiss observations by the non-sequitur that the observation is not novel!
ReplyDeleteBut, as they are small minded, they often trip themselves up, by admitting: "clearly something else is going on"!
Sure, use ad hominem. Works every time. I'll just go ahead and believe any wild-ass nonsense that comes my way, like the notion that the Andes are younger than mankind.
ReplyDeleteHow much current is needed to levitate a frog in a Z-Machine?
How much heavier is Enceladus?
Enceladus may have formed within this arc, it may explain why some objects form where they do. Perhaps magnetic fields help to constrain the dust grains that grew into an early planetisimal, then into Enceladus herself.
I'm not denying the existance of EM fields. I'm saying they act with gravity to produce the effects we see.
Electromagnetism causes gravity.
ReplyDeleteExtraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.
ReplyDeleteGot any?
You would never know it if I did.
ReplyDeleteThis is becase you do not have evidence. If you presented some, we might know what it looks like.
ReplyDeleteYou don't know what evidence looks like.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I see is you dodging a simple problem.
ReplyDeleteShow where there is enough power from Saturn's EM Field to hold Enceladus in it's grip.
Then show how the sun or Jupiter aren't pulling it away.
Show where all the electrical potential comes from.
What causes the charge separation?
Where do all the free electrons holding the Electric Universe together originate?
How does the charge separation maintain itself over the distance from the core of the galaxy to the sun to Saturn to its moon?
Why is the solar wind observed to be electrically neutral when EU says it's charged?
It's simple... just answer the above with math or observation of electron streams powerful enough to do the job alone and you've got yourself a theory, otherwise, all you have is made up stories to explain the pretty pictures the taxpayers bought for you.
