So far as I can tell, nothing. Isaac Newton is arguably the least original thinker in world history. "... we are like dwarfs on the shoulders of giants...." -- Bernard of Chartres "If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants". -- Isaac Newton. Have scientists ever actually read Newton? None so far as I can tell. The Bible warns us about the moderns: "... they will carry their riches upon the shoulders of young asses" -- Isaiah 30:6

I respectfully disagree. I think the theory of gravitation and stating the inverse square law and inventing the mathematics to back it up was a pretty substantial contribution to science. His work on optics was also significant.
ReplyDeleteGravitation is not a theory, but rather a falsified hypothesis. The inverse square so-called "law" for gravitation was proposed in 1645 by Ismael Bullialdus. By 1679, Hooke thought gravitation had inverse square dependence and communicated this in a letter to Isaac Newton. Newton's work on optics wasn't original either.
ReplyDeleteReally Newton didn't even have a theory of gravity. He didn't pretend to know what caused it. I have been hearing theories about the creation of superheroes as a state or banker-family imperialist project. Perhaps if Newton is overrated part of it is for state reasons.
ReplyDeleteOne thing he did was downplay the role of silver. Gold is banker-money. Since most gold will stay in the bankers vaults its their preferred money, and when the banker cartel gets strong enough they always try on a number of ways of getting rid of silver.
Did he not ...... float.... the idea that Gravity was a result of universal pressure upon objects, as boats in a choppy sea are drawn to one another?
