The Science of Mythology
"Depend upon it, there is mythology now as there was in the time of Homer, only we do not perceive it, because we ourselves live in the very shadow of it, and because we all shrink from the full meridian light of truth." -- F. Max Müller, philologist, On The Philosophy of Mythology, 1872

The big 4 - Jesus, Mohammed, Moses, and Buddha.
Not to mention the great Hindu mythologies and pretty much all the secondary characters in the Bible and Quran and such. Then there's Mormonism and all the other doorbell cults too. UNLESS, you seem to think Joseph Smith just didn't have the wherewithall to say "I was abducted and anally probed by an alien who told me I can live in their spaceship and go to a new planet after I die".
QF,
My point is that there is no difference between science and mythology. Science has doorbell cults that believe in things that make the Mormons seem sane as psychiatrists.
Jeffery,
I would expect someone who doesnt perceive it because we ourselves live in the very shadow of it and because we all shrink from the full meridian light of truth to say that.
The Mormons think they get to have multiple wives and get to live on their own planet AFTER they die. Aside from the fact that no Mormons have ever even had their corpses flung into outer space, they should be able to figure that it's not true because they almost always are either buried under 6 feet of dirt as worm meat, or they are burned and placed into an urn....neither of those death rituals makes for very sexy space corpses.
